Aims
- Deconstruct an incident of abuse so that they YP gains greater awareness of how they wind themself up and the beliefs/fears that drive this
- YP gains greater awareness of how they already use self talk or imagery to counteract this process at times and learn what is most effective for them
Practitioner Guidance
In this exercise you will play the parent video from Step 3 from week 8 so make sure you have it before the session. When the young person has watched their parent’s video, they get another opportunity to respond. You can use the guided questions in the grey box in the exercise sheet to help shape their response. They can also answer any questions asked by the parent (if there are any). If they want to they can say sorry, but they don’t have to. Don’t forget to begin recording before you begin asking the young person for their response. This will be shown to the parent in their next session.
